Trust honours founding members with commemorative tree planting at Te Kōawa
Four past and influential Trustees of Te Waiau Mahika Kai Trust were honoured with a celebration and commemorative planting on 5th November 2022.

Controlling feral pigs at Te Kōawa
Feral pigs are one of the biggest threats to biodiversity at Te Kōawa. They are widespread in the valley, and impede native seedling regeneration and disturb native plantings. They also known to directly prey on bird’s eggs and chicks, frogs, invertebrates, even tuna.
Restoration of mahika kai at Te Kōawa
A holistic mahika kai restoration project at Te Kōawa continues the important mahi to restore and enhance mahika kai/traditional Māori food and resource gathering in the Jericho Valley.
