Annual Report 2022/23

As we reflect upon the accomplishments and milestones of the past year, we are thrilled to present Te Waiau Mahika Kai Trust's Annual Report for the Year 2022/23.

Our restoration mahi includes expansion of our electric pig fence (now covering 234ha of the site), pest and weed control, and native replanting, with over 18,000 trees now planted at Te Kōawa Tūroa o Takitimu.

A highlight of our year was the Te Kōawa Commemorative Planting Day on 5th November, 2022. On this special occasion, we celebrated the remarkable achievements of the Trust while honoring the memory of our past Trustees - Jane Davis, Colin Sinclair, George Ryan, and Sandra Cook. We planted trees as a living tribute to acknowledge their vision, dedication, and mahi to restore Te Kōawa Tūroa o Takitimu.

We have also embarked on a Mahika Kai Study of the Waiau Awa, with our Trustee Dr Jane Kitson leading this mahi, in conjunction with Ōraka-Aparima Rūnaka.

Thank you to all our supporters and funders who have supported the Trust over the last year.
